Director Examinations Message

Welcome to the Examinations Branch.

The Examinations Branch plays a vital role in maintaining the academic integrity, transparency, and credibility of the university’s assessment system. As Director Examinations, my foremost priority is to ensure that all examination-related processes are conducted in a fair, efficient, secure, and student-centered manner.

Our office is responsible for the smooth conduct of examinations, timely declaration of results, implementation of examination rules and regulations, coordination with academic departments and regional campuses, and continuous improvement of assessment procedures. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in every stage of the examination cycle as aligned with NUML’s Vision and Mission Statement. In an evolving academic environment, the Examinations Branch is also focused on modernizing examination systems through digital workflows, improved communication, transparent procedures, and policy reforms that support both students and faculty. Special attention is given to fairness, inclusivity, and the provision of appropriate support to students with special needs.

I encourage students, faculty members, and all stakeholders to carefully follow the examination rules, timelines, and official instructions issued by the university. Together, we can strengthen a culture of academic excellence, responsibility, and trust.

The Examinations Branch remains committed to serving the university community with dedication, integrity, and efficiency.

CORE FUNCTIONS OF EXAMINATIONS BRANCH

The Examinations Branch is responsible for the comprehensive administration of student assessments, performance tracking, and grade compilation. By meticulously managing the verification and issuance of transcripts, degrees, and official credentials, the Branch ensures the delivery of highly accurate, secure, and efficient academic services.

MAXIMUM DURATION & DEGREE REQUIREMENTS OF A PROGRAM

This section outlines the standardized framework governing degree requirements and programmatic time limits across all faculties. Each academic pathway is defined by specific credit hour ranges and residency benchmarks designed to guarantee depth of learning and timely graduation. Compliance with these criteria is carefully monitored by the Examinations Branch to safeguard the integrity of the university's qualifications.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION CRITERIA OF ALL FACULTIES

The university implements a structured evaluation framework designed to objectively measure student learning outcomes through continuous and summative assessments. Recognizing diverse pedagogical needs, the criteria are divided into two distinct models: a specialized framework for the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, and a standard model governing all other academic faculties. Both pathways utilize a balanced matrix comprising continuous internal evaluations (distributed across quizzes, oral presentations, and written assignments), mid-semester examinations, and comprehensive terminal evaluations to ensure a holistic appraisal of academic performance.

GRADING RANGES FOR UNDERGRADUATES/GRADUATES AND FUNCTIONAL COURSES STUDENTS

The university implements two distinct evaluation tracks to systematically quantify academic achievement across different student cohorts. While regular undergraduate and graduate achievements are calculated using the standard 4.00 Grade Point Average scale, specialized functional courses utilize a practical, performance-linked framework based on direct alphabetical bands and qualitative progress remarks.

PROCESSING OF RESULTS CARD, TRANSCRIPTS AND DEGREES AND VERIFICATION OF THE SAME DOCUMENTS

Designed to streamline post-graduation documentation, this section outlines the secure administrative lifecycle of credential issuance and secondary verification. Through integrated departmental verification channels, the university guarantees precise, expedited handling of all student record requests.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARD OF GOLD MEDAL POLICY

This policy outlines the performance criteria required to qualify for top-tier student rewards. Deserving students are recognized via partial tuition fee waivers for semester positions and prestigious gold medals for outstanding final graduation CGPA milestones.
